K.T., what's dark fiction?
"You write dark fiction? That's cool. What's that again?" I hear this question all the time from those who are curious. According to various online dictionaries, dark fiction delves into the heinous and taboo ideas surrounding the concept of the 'human monster.' It's a realistic genre; these disturbed individuals exist among us. We may know them personally or hear their chilling stories on the news. However, my own definition of dark fiction encompasses those elements along with several other intriguing concepts:
Horrorocult - the chilling Home of the Condemned, demonic influences, and dark fantasy showcased in my Bad Elements Series.
There’s also Splatterpunk — a collection called A Trinity of Wicked Tales featuring narratives like Jilted.
Ultimately, all of my stories intertwine with suspense, regardless of whether they fall under the categories of horror or thrillers, like in my psychological thriller When We Swing or the criminal narrative The Hole in the Desert. Dark fiction is indeed a vast and multifaceted genre. Explore its depths and dig in where you see fit.
